Adopt-A-Village: Katnapelly, India

Katnapelly is located in the Telangana state of India. The village includes about 900 families, and the main language spoken by the people of this village is Telugu. Women primarily are homemakers. They are involved in maintaining the household and taking care of the children. About 400 children are enrolled in the educational system run by the government. The main source of income in the village is agriculture. Income is also generated through cattle breeding and laboring. Most people live in small huts with mud walls and thatched roofs.

The Adopt-A-Village program (AAV), in partnership with India Gospel League, covers five integrated aspects of the Adopt-A-Village program over a five year period:

  • Church planting and evangelism
  • Child care
  • Rural development
  • Medical Care
  • Administration

The program has brought significant transformation in the areas of education, health, and socioeconomic and leadership skill development.

Every summer, Children's Gospel Clubs (CGC) are arranged for the children. Jesus is introduced to children who have never heard of him through songs, stories, dramas and dances. Trained teachers help the children to know the true God and teach them how to pray and read the bible. In the summer of 2017, 250 children from various villages attended a one week CGC program and had the privilege of learning about the true God. They also receive weekly follow-up which helps them grow strong in faith.
