Sacrifice Embraced

Luke 22 & 23

Throughout Jesus' entire ministry, his hands had been instruments of restoration, touching lepers, raising the dead, healing the broken, and washing the feet of the very man who would betray him. Even at the moment of his arrest, he used his hands to heal the ear of an enemy. The staggering irony of the cross is that the hands capable of ending his own suffering chose not to, because by staying still, they were securing salvation for all of us.
